Style Icon: Marina Diamandis of Marina and the Diamonds

Marina Diamandis of Marina and the Diamonds is not only one of my most major girl crushes and an amazing singer, she’s one of the people I look up to when it comes to fashion. To me, she is a complete icon. The way she dresses is fun and flirty, with a vintage touch. Her style ranges from bubblegum pop to dark and edgy, but it is always modest. Her modesty is what sets her apart and makes her sexy. That, and the fact that her “true colors” show through her lyrics.

As you’ll quickly learn, my love for the 50’s is boundless, so it also helps that most of her outfits are somewhat 50’s inspired. Her ability to wear pastel tea dresses and hair ribbons without looking silly is admirable. Each pink cardigan and lace skirt radiates class and class and confidence.

I particularly love when a person can have two personalities when they dress. They can change it up and not just be stuck in the same clothing rut. Whether she’s dressed like a vintage vixen or a vampy princess, she knows exactly what she’s doing and she’s doing it right.

Light or dark, flirty or sexy, Marina knocks it out of the park. Her oversized sunglasses and cutesy wardrobe have inspired many of my outfits since I started listening to her music. Hopefully this post has inspired you to add some playfulness into your closet!
